Jumi Kim

Jumi joined Grace Presbyterian Church in the spring of 2022. She directs both the Bell Choir and Chancel Choirs at Grace. Jumi has reinstated a monthly concert series and brings many talented musicians and singers into the church on Sundays and at her Free Concert Series. Multi-talented Jumi has been a featured soloist at various concerts including Mozart Requiem and Coronation Mass, and Vivaldi Gloria in collaboration with many orchestras and ensembles in the Bay Area and Central Coast. Ms. Kim has also performed various operatic roles including Countess in Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro, Donna Elvira in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Gilda in Verdi’s Rigoletto, and Cio-Cio San in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly. Ms. Kim taught voice at Indiana Wesleyan University, Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne, and Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo. She received her doctoral degree in vocal performance from Ball State University, master’s from Indiana University, and bachelor’s from Ewha Woman’s University in Seoul, Korea. Currently Jumi Kim is an active soloist in the Bay Area while teaching at Oikos University in Oakland, serving as music director at Grace Presbyterian Church and as executive director of Celeste Solo Ensemble.
